A Beard is Part of the Nature in Man

Once upon seeing a new student at the madrasah whose beard had just started growing after coming to the madrasah, our honourable Shaykh said with great delight “Your face looks much more beautiful now!”.
Further elaborating on this point Shaykh questioned the students that were present that if a person’s nose was to be cut off would that person not look ugly? Everybody replied in the affirmative. Shaykh further mentioned that the reason for this is that having a nose is part of human nature (fitrah) likewise having a beard is also in the nature of man.
Shaykh then stated an incident that gives encouragement to those who have started growing beards:
A student once came to Shaykh Ashraf Ali Thanvi (R.A) and said “I am growing my beard but there is one problem that many people students mock me at college. Shaykh Thanvi replied “Don’t worry! Because you will have the last laugh on a day that they will be crying i.e. the day of judgement”.
