When Dead Hearts Become Alive

On the late night Majlis on the 14th of October Shaykh delivered a lecture to a brim full Masjid. During the lecture I could hear many weeping and wailing sounds from the audience whom were mainly youths.

Shaykh started his lecture thus:

“Tonight in the Taraweeh salaah, some verses were recited in which Allah says,

‘Has the time not come for the believers, that their hearts should waver when the truth has been sent by their Lord?’
This is addressed to those who have confessed faith but are still transgressing. How could it be that after all the favours that have been bestowed upon you, you are still sinning? (You should have become all of Allah’s by now). This verse is so powerful and weighty that if the doors of the heart were even a little open or ajar, then people would accept everything, and no need would be for these gatherings and majaalis or elucidation”.

Shaykh took a deep sigh, “Alas, if but you people understood Arabic”.

He then continued “A mu’min doesn’t intend to sin, however if it happens then he repents quickly. So no matter what happens my brothers, even if we are slaughtered, then we will not disobey Allah! Are you so sure that if you sin you will not be overtaken by a disastrous torment. Allah has said that we have not but sent punishment but for their own doing.

Allah doesn’t want us to be like the nations of the past, who used to follow their holy books but were not willing to let go of their mischief and sin. For long periods they kept persisting, until Allah closed their hearts.

Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam was so concerned about people not taking heed that Allah revealed to him that it is not in your hands (Oh Messenger) to unlock their hearts, but it’s up to Allah…..They hear but not from their heart, they see but not with their heart…..They are like animals, nay they are worse than animals. (At least the animals follow the task that Allah has commanded them to do).

There comes a time when these believers transgress such that Allah shuts the door of guidance, and the believers eventually fall into disbelief.

So save yourself from sin as it is fundamental to conserve faith.

Oh my brother you can’t even tolerate a spark on your skin, neither can you tolerate the stuffiness in a masjid after 20 rakaats, how will you ever tolerate the Hellfire, where the intensity is such that a single spark would burn everything in this world, had it brandished on Earth.

However, for those who are true, and desire repentance, then don’t despair, the Lord that brings life to barren land into lush verdure and greenery, can do the same to a similar barren heart.
